Diabetic Neuropathy Detection DevicesGet Quotation

There are three broad types of neuropathy: sensory, autonomic and motor:

  • Sensory neuropathy affects the nerves that carry information to the brain about sensations from various parts of the body. This is the most common form of diabetic neuropathy.
  • Autonomic neuropathy affects the nerves that control involuntary activities of the body, such as the action of the stomach, intestine, bladder and even the heart.
  • Motor neuropathy affects the nerves that carry signals to muscles to allow motions like walking and moving fingers. This form of neuropathy is very rare in diabetes.

Sensory neuropathy can lead to pain, numbness or tingling in the extremities and, ultimately, an inability to feel heat, cold, pain or any other sensation.

Autonomic neuropathy can lead to impotence in men, bladder neuropathy (which means the bladder is unable to empty completely), diabetic diarrhea, or bloated stomach. Motor neuropathy can lead to muscle weakness.

Diabetic neuropathy is usually diagnosed based on your symptoms, your medical history and a physical exam.

Other tests that may be conducted include:

  • Monofilament test. Sensitivity to touch may be tested using a soft nylon fiber called a monofilament. If you're unable to feel the filament on your feet, it's a sign that you've lost sensation in those nerves.
  • Nerve conduction studies. This test measures how quickly the nerves in your arms and legs conduct electrical signals. It's often used to diagnose carpal tunnel syndrome.
  • Electromyography (EMG). Often performed along with nerve conduction studies, electromyography measures the electrical discharges produced in your muscles.
  • Quantitative sensory testing. This non-invasive test is used to assess how your nerves respond to vibration and temperature changes.
  • Autonomic testing. If you have symptoms of autonomic neuropathy, your doctor may request special tests to look at your blood pressure in different positions and assess your ability to sweat.

Vascular Doppler ProductsGet Quotation

Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is a common circulatory problem in which usually the legs are affected. Blocked blood flow to the legs can cause pain and numbness. If severe enough, blocked blood flow can cause gangrene (tissue death). In very serious cases, this can lead to leg amputation.

Whenever one suspects Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD), the clinician must perform few non-invasive vascular testing methods that are commercially available and widely implemented. They include the ankle brachial index (ABI), the toe-brachial index(TBI), segmental Pressure Study, pulse volume recording(PVR), transcutaneous oxygen monitoring(TCPO2) and skin perfusion pressure(SPP).

We offer a wide range of arterial doppler for measuring Ankle Brachial Index and Toe Brachial Index. These vascular dopplers may also be used for screening arterial and venous flow. Segmental pressures and PVR measurement are possible with few of these products. These systems are based on the advanced technologies and are used by number of doctors and other medical professionals across the world. These are available at very reasonable prices.

Diabetic neuropathy is usually diagnosed based on your symptoms, your medical history and a physical exam. During the exam, your doctor is likely to check your muscle strength and tone, tendon reflexes, and sensitivity to touch, temperature and vibration.

Your doctor may also conduct tests that include:

  • Filament test. Sensitivity to touch may be tested using a soft nylon fiber called a monofilament
  • Nerve conduction studies. This test measures how quickly the nerves in your arms and legs conduct electrical signals. It's often used to diagnose carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Quantitative sensory testing. This noninvasive test is used to assess how your nerves respond to vibration and changes in temperature
  • Autonomic testing. If you have symptoms of autonomic neuropathy, your doctor may request special tests to look at your blood pressure in different positions and assess your ability to sweat

The American Diabetes Association recommends that all people with diabetes have a comprehensive foot exam — either by a doctor or by a foot specialist (podiatrist) — at least once a year. In addition, your feet should be checked for sores, cracked skin, calluses, blisters, and bone and joint abnormalities at every office visit.
